Glasses and eyewear are the PERFECT way to remember characters by. In this blog, I am going to be discussing the different iconic characters throughout movie history to really show how this practical accessory impacts a character.

1. Superman
Without these memorable, thick-framed, classic glasses, there would be no Clark Kent as we know it. Protecting his secret identity (Superman), once the glasses are taken off his superhero side comes out which is what is so memorable about these glasses, the power they hold.

2. The Matrix
The Matrix is a staple movie in pop culture and is commonly voted by the public as one of the best science fiction films of all time! Yes, Morpheus is well known for that iconic Red and Blue Pill scene, but the sunglasses is what stuck with people all these years later too.

3. Harry Potter
A selection of the Harry Potter cast has worn some iconic eyewear which has been made into replica fan merchandise bought by fans all around the world. The most memorable characters rocking the unique eyewear are mainly Luna Lovegood with her unique kaleidoscope inspired ‘Spectre Specs’ and of course Mr Potter himself with the iconic circle framed glasses. The silhouette of the glasses are well known by people all around the world almost instantly.

4. Top Gun
The iconic Ray-Ban aviators have become a hit after the classic 1986 film. Aviators are mostly known to be worn by pilots, but fans all around the world adapted to this style of eyewear (glasses and sunglasses) and is a timeless frame to this day. The new 2022 Top Gun: Maverick included Nick (Goose) Bradshaw’s son Rooster, Bradley Bradshaw, and he rocked a pair of retro RayBan3136 Original Caravan sunglasses which became another popular style in modern day eyewear.

5. Breakfast at Tiffany’s
Holly Golightly’s sunglasses are one of the most iconic eyewear styles worn by women. The opening scene of Breakfast at Tiffany’s features Audrey Hepburn walking down a New York street before stopping outside Tiffany’s. These glasses are still a popular choice in today’s fashion. A character’s choice of clothes, accessories, and look can impact an audience into wanting to take inspiration from the film they are watching.
